Today the Balletboyz came to visit TreeHouse School, home to Ambitious about Autism, where I work as a dance and yoga tutor.

I’d read so much about their new outreach initiative ‘Ballet 4 Autism’, the brainchild of Balletboyz co founder, Michael Nunn who’s son is on the Autistic spectrum.

I felt our pupils were ready to widen their horizons in dance. I was right. They loved it!

I’ve been teaching weekly dance sessions at TreeHouse for about two years now and the pupils love to explore creative movement and express themselves through the music.  I love watching how they engage with the session, lose themselves in the joy of being in the moment and bonding with their fellow classmates.

We can be imaginative – play super heroes – explore emotions – rise high, stoop low – and connect with a different state of being.

It’s a beautiful thing to observe.

Do you want to learn how to teach yoga and dance to children and adults on the Autistic spectrum? Then please contact me here for details.

Take a peek at my video blog where I interview Karl Morgan, workshop leader and Balletboyz Ed Pearce and Marc Galvez.
